Welcoming Spring Style with Wendy’s®

Spring Style & Wendy’s® #NewSaladCollection – Pt. 2
Hello again faithful readers! Sorry for the long absence but life, the apparent Polar Vortex the U.S. experienced for the past couple of months, and shear laziness have kept me from updating. Well that stops now! Not only because of warmer weather but because spring/summer is an optimal time for fashion. So I hope my updates will remind you why you even gave my humble blog a chance. Anyhooo.... This new Wendy’s® contest on www.polyvore.com/really got my fashion inspiration all revved up yet again. For the contest, each contestant had to use colors from their 'New Salad Collection' (the salad as seen in the picture to the right) as their inspiration in creating a fashionable collection. I think I did a great job seeing as I instantly received several likes on the Polyvore site. You'll see that I stuck to the basics and didn't layer too much (which you know I love to do!) Here in the U.S. we're in a seasonal transition: like I said, having come out of that frigid winter later than usual and suddenly having all this warm weather can be jarring, not to mention confusing, for us bargain fashionistas. BUT keeping it simple with a bit of color will always keep you in style. Let's start with a basic dark dress ($35). By itself its pretty underwhelming, but upon closer inspection the lace overlay gives it another dimension to your style. Add a light colored belt and you've started to put together a look. For the purposes of this look I suggest a light color so that the eye doesn't lose the belt in the dress & a small belt is best so as not to take anything away from the real statement piece of the outfit: the blazer/jacket ($535)! A blazer lends itself to a more put-together and professional outfit, but a loosely structured jacket  is a more casual daytime look. Oh, & the outwear HAS to be a pop of color, otherwise you're drowning yourself in dark, layered clothing in spring. Parish the thought! We've finally made it to spring so celebrate it woman! Now, if you're still into some of the hardcore color blocking that was all the rage last year, then pair this look with bright shoes of another color. For others, perhaps the jacket is enough of a statement, so just slip on a pair of flats with the same bright color as the jacket ($80). It will pull the look together from head to toe! BUT WAIT...what about some bling you say? Well I'm glad you asked! If you happen to have a few understated stacking bracelets it would go nicely with this outfit. I on the other hand cannot say no to a statement necklace ($21,000, OY VEY) & if you can tie in some of the colors in your outfit into the necklace, all the better for a more cohesive look! Finish the entire look off with a lighter but still neutral bag. The one shown here from JC Penny ($40, note to self must shop at department stores more) is a simple cross body, messenger bag. Perfect for the day and the relaxed, professional look I was leaning towards. Well that's it. Questions? Comments? Disagreements? PLEASE feel free to do either so I know I'm not talking to the wind here! I welcome constructive criticism too.....as long as its nice ;-) Until next time dear readers.....
